2018-05-03 Day 337 Thu

Had a shower and washed hair. Then we were underway for Puerto Madryn again. Drove through Dolavon which is a Welsh settlement form the mid 1865. They have kept their language alongside Spanish. Cut through Trelew (again) and headed up to Puerto Madryn on routa 3 dual carriageway.

In Madryn we went to the Vea supermarket as I don’t really like shopping in the Carrefour. A good shop but the teller was not very friendly and reluctantly agreed to accept my working with children's check card but wouldn't accept a photo copy of passport I have not had a problem using either in supermarkets before. But neither card worked giving a strange error. It has happened a few times in the last week. I did ask if she could use another machine but she was not interested in helping….so I needed to go to EC for cash but would have to put food through teller again.
So with cash in hand, I went through another teller who took my card swiped it made me sign the receipt and I was done, didn’t even enter pin or show ID. Card worked.
We stopped at the tourist info place to find out if the Orca’s were still in area. I found out the Orca’s were last sited on 30 April, costs A$28 per person per day to be in the park. Need to camp in the one camp spot in town. May rain tonight so check here in the morning cause the roads can be closed oh and it is going to rain tomorrow arvo. Adding all this up we just thought we’d head north.

Still have not heard from Lars.
We drove up routa 1 hoping we could get all the way to Las Grutas at the top of the Gulf of San Matias along the coast and away from Ruta 3 the main road.

We drove into a beach to have lunch and as we stopped we noticed some seals swimming past. They were very curios and as John walked down the beach to watch they would swim one way and then back the other raising themselves out of the water to look at John. They hung around for about 15mins.

However we were stopped just past Puerto Lobos by a locked gate. On the way out we again waved to the 4x4 ute on beach and then realised he was stuck. We drove in a little closer and winched him out of the hole he’d dug then was able to tow him the rest of the way up the bank. I think he had been digging for a while. I don’t think he would of dug himself out today.

So 25km out to Ruta 3 then up the highway for 50km then back into the beach (30km) for a camp. On the beach there was a very odd tall black building the sort one would make a horror movie with. It also had a pier for loading ships…...Not at all sure what it was.

Drove north along the beach till we found a camp spot out of site of the black ominous building and the town of Playa Doradas. A lot of infastructure has gone in here with a subdivision. Wide dirt streets, electricity and street lights. One lonesome little house.
