John needed to use
the Internet so we stayed put for a while. Just after the sun came up
(8:30) John wondered off to take a photo. As I looked out the door
when he returned I noticed a whale blow. Oh and all the others… In
a one minute period we counted about 10 whales so not sure how big
the pod was. They swam slowly southwards for most of the morning.
I cooked pancakes
for morning tea… Then started to work on the toilet electrics,
flush pump is not working. Fuse was good but corroded and when I took
the top of the flush button the electrics were all corroded away.
When I tried to shine up the contacts on the PCB we realised that the
contacts had corroded away. Think I found the problem. Will have to
stick flushing with the shower for now. Another job for Antwerp.
We left around 13:30
after a bowl of green salad and headed up Ruta 3 with all the trucks. The road was in need of replacement and they have started a new dual highway alongside.
Again some of the towns we entered have rubbish problems.
Tossing up our
options and again the North West Argentina is calling; so after giving the map
some attention we figured it’d be worth a visit and doable in the 4
weeks we have left. Hopefully with a few days at Peninsula Valdes
and the Orca’s they have been there stealing the baby seals off the
beach. But the chance of seeing one is slim.
After nearly 400km we turned onto an orange road to find a camp. We found one just in the bush beside the road. We can continue out this way into Trelew in the morning. A few trucks came past while we were having dinner and a few more during the night.
The first night in a long while that we haven’t had the heater on. Normally first thing to turn on when we stop for the night
