We arrived into Melbourne about 2300 and stayed the night in
an hotel. We caught a lift to the train station to catch the 10.15
train to Wangaratta. Muff
met us at the train station. We went to the post office and put our
application in for our concurrent passports. JA had a dental
appointment and me a doctors appointment.
John Yeo arrived up on the 6 o’clock train on wed night. We spent a nice day with June and John and we were on our way to Bendigo by 9am on Friday.
We
went to Peters house(3rd cousin) Chris meet us there. So
lovely to be together as a family again.
John
and Chris made we proud over the weekend with their ability to mix
with all the family old and young. It was a great weekend and glad I
took the effort to attend.
About 90 people turned up some new born and the eldest had just turned 80.
Managed to get the G for pufffs middle name off EC's registration JG needed to request it and change it plus get a new license with out his G listed. Such a hassle. But finally got the rego forms printed and paid for another year.
The
request for Carnet we had sent from turkey caused us lots of issues. Value
of vehicle not in Puffs name. So had to ask for another one. Rego in
his name. Need a letter form him saying we can take the vehicle out
of country and a list of all the countries that he will alloy us to
take it. We did ask for it by the Friday’s mail which gave them
over their 10 days. However they did not post it till late on Friday.
We had had notification that it was complete but it did not get
posted straight away. By the time we asked where it was they said it
was just being posted and they could not change address. We contacted
Australia post and they were going to flag it to arrive at Melbourne GPO and make some phone calls. So that was a relief.
The
shooting in Christchurch caused some bad publicity in Turkey about
the Anzac’s which caused us a little concern.
Had Connie and Dave for dinner on Tues night and then met them and the Silva's for dinner at Whitfield pub on Friday night. Went back to their place for dessert.
We
took the 0730 train to Melbourne with June and John on Sunday and
said our good byes at the station. We then headed out to Sian and
Andrew’s place. Had a great afternoon with them.
On Monday
John received notification that the carnet had arrived at the destination;
but did not get to Milawa. We went on the hunt and found it at
Moyhu. With some 'help' from Loretta, Australia post redelivered the package to Milawa and Sarah drove the package to Seymour to meet me traveling north on the train. All the planets aligned and we had the Carnet.
When
I got back to Melbourne I then took the train to pick up the fuel
filter and then met John back in the CBD. A huge day. We then went to
the train station collected our bags that we had stored over night and
headed for the airport.
