An exciting and long awaited day!
From Michelin XZL 255/100R16 to
Hancook Dynapro MT37x12.5 R17 so 1" larger diameter hub and a 2 inch wider tyre with hopefully better mud ability....
We caught a taxi to Aldatmaz or so we thought . He took us some place way north but kept saying it was OK. He finally got in a huge traffic-jam so we got out and walked, we paid him half of his meter he did not argue. Caught a local bus then finally a taxi back. Arrived at 9:30 after 1.5hrs to do a 15min trip.
Tyres
went on easily as did the wheel arches and the mirrors. Put the new
switch in for passenger window which we had bought back from
Australia with us.
We
would not go to customs today as the airport was shifting and traffic
was in a mess. We would take the vehicle in Monday but now have to
take the old tires back as well……..
All this hassle to get the tax back, about AU$2000.
We even suggested that we forgo claiming back the tax but could not as the rims could not be found on the Turkish list so would be delayed another number of days. Already they have been at customs for over 3 weeks. So bringing them in under maintenance was really the only way. Also we get refunded the tax without leaving the country – supposedly.
