I woke at 0800 after 8 hours sleep. I made the lemon dessert
I did not make last night, and John updated the track on the outside
map. The decision was made to travel to Lake Baikal. So off we went, fueled up and headed East.
The
first 24kms were good. At the turn off south we decided that we would
drive the extra 170km to visit the north of Lake Baikal.
I
chatted to people who had contacted me via whatsApp, they had seen us
in a town. She gave me the website for Russian fires. Yes a few on
our route but still cars buses and trucks going both ways.
The
road was slow in parts and rougher in other.
The road and railway chased each other across the forested hills. A
couple of fires were spotted.
We
are still amazed that these forest burn they are greener than our Victorian bushes in winter!!!
The
fires seem small, slow moving and very smokey - a bit like burning
greenwood. We have noticed that the locals will burn green wood on
there barbies leaves and all.
Finally
made it to the town of Zarechnyiy on the NW coast of Baikal lake. Another
30km south and a lovely camp on the beach right beside the lake. It
was very still hardly any movement.
John went in for a dip.
