2019-11-24 Day 401 Sun.

-5°C and no water again. Oh well will have to shower later today.
We went for a walk up an old road. John peeled off and went directly up the hill while I followed the road. I think both my ankle and knee are improving.

Around a corner I spied the herder and his sheep, on the next ridge. One of his dogs spied me and took off towards me. The herder ran after him yelling and finally threw his stick. The dog stopped and after some unintelligible conversation I headed directly up the hill away from the herder, and hopefully towards John.
At the top I stopped John cresting another rise closer to the herder and we walked back down to the car. A nice little walk. My left knee bothered me a bit on the way down so walked zig zag down and then sideways.

I took some macros of the strange dead plant that is all around.

Still no water.
The mattress is again wet underneath so it stood on the floor with all the other bags that sit on the bed. Hopefully with the house heater on while driving the mattress and carpet base will dry out.

The road became less and less used and in the distance we spied a military compound so were happy as the road to there must be good.

It was good but there was a gate so we stopped outside the compound while a couple of soldiers looked at our passports and called for backup. Finally all good and we were let through.

The barriers to slow your approach to the compound.

Oops! Came in the back door again!

Completed our circuit when we got back to Igdir.
Here we stopped and bought some more veges and then crossed the road to a restaurant for lunch. John had a little of everything and I had a eggplant in earthenware thinking it was vego but it had meat and lots of oil. I am trying to lower my cholesterol….

Every table had a big plastic box filled with sliced bread.

These cop cars are of the cut out variety flashing lights and all.

Yes we are back in the land of nesting storks.

Military graves??

Houses in the hills

We passed this poor guy last time. Sentry point at the end of the bridge.

Back onto a fresh main road and rough terrain.

Building another small dam and slipway. Lots of small electricity generating dams in the area. Other areas just pipe the water to the turbines.

Tarps at the base of the cliffs create a cover for hay or a warm place to sleep.

Nowhere to camp by this busy road so took a small white up the hill hoping to find a spot. Nothing close to the edge but found a little track that went to a farmers paddock and a un-plowed area.
