Some other guys came passed and John walked with them to
the guys house and came back saying although a string line was in
place it was completely disregarded with the walls a bit on an
angle…
We
drove out and across the bridge.
We
were heading for the rugged mountains again.
The road was sealed for
the most part, just one section of gravel between two other whites.
Then
we got to a power station and some gates….. No couldn’t go through
(no road) so with 6 guys, a few cups of tea and a phone call to confirm roads, we had a track sorted
to get out of the valley while still staying on back roads.
We had to retrace our track 5km, turn onto a small road (not on our map) cross the river, drive though the soccer "field"
go up and up past some houses
where rocks held the water proof plastic on their roof.
And pop out on a slightly larger road and one that was on our map.
After that all good
and most road were where our map put them.
Looking back down on the power plant at the end of the road.

We
made good time to Karetepe fortress. Passing it we went to the top of
a hill Kara Tepe but the aerials were in the best position and no
visibility past the tress from the track. We returned most of the way
down and camped in a corner of the switchback with the towering
cliffs above us.
