While
I was packing up for the day a Ute turned up. John got out to talk
to the guy. The guy had lived in Australia for 2 years and had very
good English very fluent.
He is a business man and now grows broccoli
here, we passed it driving in last night.
He also has a mandarin
grove else where. Most of the labor is family but at harvest time he
employs workers by the day.
He
left. And so did we.
As
we drove past the broccoli farm on the way our he stopped us and tried
to give us 3 lovely big broccoli, we settled on 1. Wow lovely fresh broccoli straight out of the garden.
John
has found a spot on the map, at the end of a track which is at the
end of a white road or 2, which overlooks a steep sided valley.
We
detoured a little between white roads on a dirt white road to see a
ravine. Sadly we could not see much of it. But the opposite was a
very high very sheer rock wall.
WE
stopped at this cistern to fill with water and realized it was
directly below the graveyard. We continued on to find another.
On wards
and upwards. Drove through some lovely pine forests. It is great to
be back in a treed area after all the very bare lands we have traveled in Eastern Turkey.
A
huge monument above the town of Aladag.
Stopping
in this town we bought a few items and some bread. The Check out lady
had some English and welcomed me to the store.
We
would have to come back out this way.
A
lot of logging is happening. The logs are stripped of their bark and
branches and left on the hill or side of road awaiting pickup.
As
we climbed towards our camp and 1420m the land became very rugged.
Amazingly so. As we got close to the end point we came across a small
very rocky village.
with street lights!
Continuing onto the track and to a houses backdoor with a
great flat spot right at the edge of the cliff.
I
went and knocked on the door and finally a guy came out. I tried to
ask him if we could stay and took him to EC and showed him inside.
Yes all good we could stay.
His
wife came out to say hello with their little daughter. John gave the
3yr old a kangaroo. Their main concern I think was that we would be
cold!!
They
invited us for chai which we declined.
Next
the chief arrived with his wife and 8 yr old daughter. John dealt with
the conversation as I was trying to cook dinner. All good no problems the wife
had a look inside and gave EC the thumbs up.
A
lovely quiet night.
