From BHP Escondido
north to San Pedro de Atacama
Detoured onto salt
flats, lots of trucks, as in one every 2 mins, some full with salt going West the other lot full with gravel going East. The ones with gravel were to build new roads on the salt flats.
We checked in at the Valley of the moon. We got there at about 1pm and chatted to an Israeli guy who told us it gets busy in the afternoons as the tourists come out to watch the sun set.
we decided to return in the morning .
San Pedro de Atacama has very narrow one way streets. There are no big supermarkets just small convenience stores. John did well and got most of our supplies

Drove back out of town and camped above it.
