We took the skiff downriver to the confluence of the Ukayli and
the Maronon. To where Peru says the Amazon starts. On the way we saw
a big Iguana up a tree and lots of different bird life. Charlie told
us some history about the region and then we came back to Spondias.
Had a lounge on the upper deck before lunch then packed our bags and awaited the skiff ride to the vehicle.
Arrived at our hotel
in Iquito , the Casa Morey, a rubber barons house from the early 1900
restored to its former glory. Our bedroom was huge. The bathroom
about the size of most hotel rooms.
Wondered up town and grabbed a beer. Had dinner in the hotel.
