We stopped at another type of Police station this one called police militar ambiente (they look after the environment) We showed them the picture of the paw and they said orso (bear). They rang and got a guy who spoke English to help us with our border question. Similar answer.
The English speaker invited us across the road to the tourist info office, there I picked up a brochure of the Anhumas Abismo; abseiling 72m down into a cave and I was hooked. We booked and had to go to the office and have a trial run in the abseiling gear. Great fun. For some reason they couldn’t receive payment from my debit card so organised us to go back to tourist office to pay sometime before COB at 9pm.
Next to
the diving centre to try on wet suit. John tried to get permission to
free dive but they wouldn’t allow that; those not diving get to
float on top with a mask and snorkel (no fins).
All set for tomorrow until half way back out to the Abismo site we realized we had not paid... so back into town to pay for the adventure. Then turned around and back out. By this time it was close to dark, just after the caves, in the headlights we saw what we believed to be a bear gamboling across the paddock and into the jungle.
Found a camp site in
the large driveway into a farm paddock. 5km's short or Ahumas Abismo
