I
spent a few hours ringing distant relatives about the Yeo family
reunion… Having trouble getting people to commit. So I offered to
contact some…
Just
after sunrise when john was out taking his camp photo the new boarder
patrol arrived. John went over and had a chat to them they set up
their binoculars and huddled in the car out of the cold. John was not
100% sure they knew we would be here.
We
continued on the track and traveled out on the levee banks. Some of
the water was frozen, with the swans standing on it. Finally made it
back to terra-firma as a border patrol car came in saw us and turned
around and parked. Not sure if they were just making sure we made it
out or what, continued due south.
Decided
to have a bite to eat in Galati. Ended up having a very late lunch in
a restaurant at the top of tower with a view down over the Danube
river. Lunch was OK and the view good but service was a bit slow
although there was only two other tables occupied. After a relaxing
meal and some red, we finally got to cross the Danube (at about camp
time), the ferry loaded side on (no not too much wine) Never seen
that before… To drive onto the ferry one drives across a barge and
onto the ferry that is well tied on.
It
was getting dark as we turned west along the levi bank John wanted a
camp photo with the port in the background. A nice camp but the port
appeared to work noisily all night. No tap water - still frozen.
