As
John was making me tea outside the next police shift came up (about 10 officers) and wanted to
know why we were illegally parked in their car park! Apart from that,
one of the police starting rifling through the tea paraphernalia, which
put john on edge after the nights events. The
camp cooker john has boils the water in seconds which leaves the
pouring of tea adding more tea to pot etc a work of art!!! Which is
very much appreciated by me. We had to explain that two of their
police colleagues had put us there. We were gone by 7:30 feeling not
welcome.
We
jumped on the new free way not on our map, and headed south. Nice to
be on a road where one does not have to keep an eye open for
potholes, slumps, speed bumps (man made or otherwise) cattle, sheep,
goats just drivers doing erratic things!
We
got some miles south and got off at Lankaran I still NEEDED some
clothes to wear in Iran
Stopping
at some markets for bread and vege’s. Inside the building was a
huge clothes market so spent the next hour buying 3 sets of long
sleeves and lightweight trousers for Iran.
Continuing
inland towards Lerik which is in the mountains. The place is looking
inviting, lush green and tranquil very different from around Baku. The
road was sealed but damaged as usual with the occasional road works
happening. We drove through Lerik and continued on a white road
hoping to make a big loop. This part of the white was sealed but soon
turned of onto dirt. A lot of wild flowers are out and every now
and again we see a new one.
A
lovely camp down below the road by a little creek. We were still
visible to the road in a couple of short sections - but others had
had fires here.
