Woke to a beautiful sunny morning, with Lennin Peak in
full splendor.
While
inside doing some computer stuff we heard voices low and behold the
Korean guy that John had chatted to in Murghab (Tajikistan). He was
with his friends and had stayed at the yurts last night and whereon
there way out. Very friendly interested people. He gave John his
contact card. He was, before retirement, a big wig in the Korean
navy…..
We
sat outside enjoying a lazy morning and having chocolate cake for
morning tea.
The
clouds came and went and we watched the herder and his goats across
the lake, climb up the steep hills. He seems to ride his donkey close
to the mob and yell at them and then they change direction….
Time
to move on.
We
stopped and chatted to a group of 5 cyclist then saw some motorbikes In
the distance but continued back to the little town where a guy on a
bike stopped us. A German with his injured friend back the way we
came. He was chatting with locals trying to organize a truck for the
bike. We suggested John could ride and I could take Felix in the car
with me.
Went
back to the bikes and the cousin of the injured had rendered the bike
rideable. John preferred to ride the dirt bike so we took the panniers
off that and he rode that, and the other guy rode Felix’s bike. We
traveled back into Sary – Tash where they had stayed last night.
Every bump had really hurt Felix.
John talked to a German canoeist
traveling to find places to paddle.
We
discussed options and suggested we continue to Gulcha which looks to
be a bigger town and has a health center. I gave Felix 3 Neurofen and
we put his panniers in EC. Their friend would stay.
So now John was on
a road bike on a road, for the first time, in Kyrgyzstan
We
headed out for the 100km drive. John had a really neat windy hill to
go up and down. A good bike road but EC was struggling with all the
trucks. Not much room to overtake, but managed OK then overtook 8 in
a row on a down hill could see around the corner….
In
Gulcha, Felix found accommodation on I-overlander. It was late so
easier for us to stay as well.
Our
hostess said good hospital with English so that is the plan tomorrow an
x-ray.
Had
a shower and dinner was served in the Yurt.
Felix retired with more
pain killers and instructions to take 2 every 4 hours. Did not
impress Stephan that he’d be woken. We chatted with Stephan till
after 11 then called it a day.
