Our
maps little white road turned out to be sealed all the way to Bayandalai.
From
here we chose our track, or at least a track going in the right direction.
Very rough at times where vehicles drove through wet mud, and at
others very corrugated. Still at other times when the soil changed we
could travel at 60 on a velvet smooth surface.
We drove up a lovely little ravine, and were just getting to the interesting spot when a motor rider came up to tell us it was closed. He was very angry....
We
drove parallel to the sand dunes. Here it is a strip of dunes
100km long and from 2 -20 km wide. Not the expansive dunes that we had imagined in the Gobi.
I
had some fun driving down a river bed which took us closer to the
dunes. It was interesting to see how our ”new” tires handled in
the sand.
Some of the dunes had neatly sculptured shapes and amazingly untouched
we only saw one lot of human tracks on them.
On our
map there is only one track through them which John drove. Some deep
sand and when John drove out of the wheel tracks just a little more
revs and EC just marched on through.
I
drove back across stopping at a dried mud puddle to take photos.
We
tried to find a camp looking back down onto the sand hills, but that
did not workout. Too many yurts.
We
reentered the park with a notice of camping in camp area and please
keep your entry fee receipt.
