The earth works started just after day light about 06:30.
I baked a chocolate cake. The stove played up and stopped a few times
but the cake didn’t seem to mind.
An
overlander van with two families in stopped by. One family's bus found
the ground to rough so they were with friends going to the lake for
paragliding. One family was Romanian the other French. I spoke to the
Romanian assuring her that children do thrive outside the normal
school environment.
Leaving
the volcano we continued our drive West and around the lake Terkhiin
Tsagaan which had been created by the volcano. We past the
overlanders as they headed back to the bus.
The road was very slow, probably our slowest yet. It took us 5 hours to
cover 125km, and yes it was 25km we drove every hour within a km or
two.
A few puddles
Dried grass is put on these stands in the paddock or placed on roofs to keep out of the stocks reach.
But really different scenery.
The roads were slow...
Trees! We saw old trees for the
first time in Mongolia they looked like they had seen a lot of
history go by. They were not really big but had struggled through
life to reach a reasonable size.
We
were glad to see that this bridge had a ford nearby!
A load of goats heading to other pastures
Back
onto bitumen ,through a town (Ikh-Uuul) then on dusk found a quiet
camp by a river under some of the old conifers.
