Walking down the hill I managed to capture this
cricket/grasshopper and some wild flowers.
The
road continued to be kind to us. Arriving at Tsetserleg we struggled
to find the supplies we required, partly because all the corner
stores listed on our map were no longer there. Finally managed to
find some peppers, carrots and some canned tomatoes, and fresh ones
in 3 different stores.
School
was out and many students were in suit and tie or uniform
skirt/shirt. Some were out of uniform, we did not discover if there
were two schools but we had the feeling that there is two shifts for
the school, Young students in the morning and the older ones in the
afternoon, but just guessing.
Many yurts are being packed up
Some
trucks carrying un-baled wool past us, look a bit like Yak wool as
some of the pieces sticking out the bottom were very long.
The
road was having patches put in, so to stop a car driving into them,
nice square holes dug in the road, rocks were put as a warning.
System works.
Many
of the Yurts are being dismantled and packed up ready to be carted
off to their winter spot. Not sure if this is in storage or erected
again somewhere.
We
stopped and had a look at a gorge which just appeared out of, or
rather into, the flat ground.
At
Tariat we turned onto a much lesser road very rough and slow with
some roadworks in progress.
The
lava flow near the Korgo Uul volcano was host to stunted pine trees
but they seemed to only grow there.
We
researched the volcano and learnt that it has a big crater at the top so
drove around to the car park and walked up to the top. A tour group
of Dutch and Belgium were also doing the climb.
Worth
the short walk A neat crater about 300m across and 70m deep.
We
drove through the earthworks and made camp on a rise with the
volcano in the back ground.
