Finally
John joined me around 02:00. He had his concerns too. People not sure
what to do with him. Then being told to park here then there. Finally
they realised he did not have his paper stamped so off to two different offices to get the rights stamps. He at least had his visa
in the car with him. Finally he was told to board. Second last
vehicle up the lift onto the top deck. The last semi stayed on the
lift.
We
were up around 07:00 and had a shower drying on the cotton blanket…
A
nice day so wondered upstairs. Ship was not traveling just waiting
close to port.
No
tea left in cafeteria so John went to EC to make some. We could have
slept in the car… Other drivers were sleeping in their trucks.
After
filling our bottles we went upstairs. To see us docking. I was
anxious to regain possession of my passport so we emptied the room
and I took the key back and retrieved my passport.
The
unloading started from the bottom deck.
We
took the bags to EC and realised they were unloading down the lift.
Just as well we went down. We were the 3rd vehicle off. Now
for customs.
John
found a gap in the truck line near the front and pulled in there.
Went
to the office to be told to go to the passport control then vehicle
control then back.
Passport
control was quick then the vehicle booth was slower. Insurance took
along time with system (person) errors. Finally we had our insurance
purchased. 100TL(AU$25) for one month 130TL for 2 months. Back to
customs they were really interested in the vehicle and looked inside
to see what it was like - not for customs. Seeing this I raised the lid
for them. No cupboards were open. Good
to go.
Near customs was a large sign for drivers in Turkish and English.
"Drive
on Left" - "give
way at roundabout to right" - "give way to pedestrians " - but
still did not sink in until leaving that we know drive on the left. I
has guessed southern Cyprus was left about one month ago but had
since not thought about it.
Into
town and into the center to buy SIM. Found a Vodafone looking SIM
for 60TL for 10GB 1 week. Just what we need.
Out
again and headed East to the skinny tip of the island.
We
were both feeling the late night so found a camp by the Med. And had
a sleep.
