On to
yet another ancient site. It is beginning to be less facinating…
Not ten minutes go by when we do not see some sign from the Romans or
before. The area is just strewn with old towns.
Phaselis Ancient city
is known for it’s Aqueduct but is not a patch on the one at
Aspendos. The old street joined the two harbours and looked quiet
elaborate. The theatre was quiet intact and had very little
renovation, roman baths etc.
Another
drive to another Ancient town of Olympos. We came in the back
entrance and walked along the beach to reach it. There were signs to
stay off the beach as the turtles lay their eggs along it.
The
town was built on either side of a river, and had beach frontage, now
it does. Quite a different feel to this town Maybe as they were doing
restorative work with a big crane.
We
needed to move on to find a camp. Some just appear and others take a
lot of finding. This one was not too hard, down a little track
overlooking the waves crashing on the rocks. A lovely sound when one
is onshore!!
