John's
birthday. All he had asked for is a chocolate cake and a good bottle of
red. So I made him a cake and cooked up a pork stew at the same time.
Stove behaved well and did not shut down.
We
left our nice little camp on the sea and headed a little inland to
what appeared to be a gorge on the map. It was not very high but we
did get to see a lot of marble cutting. Big blocks cut out of the
cliff and left ready for pickup. This made it an interesting drive as
the gorge was not so interesting.
In Kas we stopped by to view the Lycian tombs which were just above the
houses on the hill side. We had to walk up steps between two buildings
and suddenly they are there. A big super yacht tied to the wharf. To
big for the marina
The number and area covered by hot houses is absolutely amazing. Mostly for bananas.
We
stopped a bit before dark on the west side of Erin Tepe. A small
road went down to the waters edge. We backed into a little spot close
to the water. A local came over to say hi and to tell us there was an
old Fire pit behind the vehicle. Then said we could visit his guest
house "Olive" if we needed water or anything.
John
enjoyed a glass or two of his bottle of birthday wine.
