A beautiful sunrise.

just after 09:30 as we need to buy a SIM with data to call JY for his birthday.
For
quite a while we were on white, they were a bit rough but not too
bad. We stopped at HasKovo to buy a SIM and get cash. First bank did
not accept my Transferwise card; the next did. I bought a SIM at a
kiosk with the help if a couple of locals. Being told it could be 12
hours before it gets activated. Little bits of WiFi around.
We
thought we’d find a park and walk into town for WiFi found a park
at the big Kauflad supermarket and they had WiFI. Rang John who by
this time had had lunch with his grand parents and he was out with
mates
Went
into the Kaufland supermarket and realised that Turkey has a long way to go with
their supermarkets… Everything is available here, But my Transferwise card was not accepted
Back into stork nesting territory but have not seen them yet.
The trees have been pruned and the branches bundled up to be carried off.
Next
stop Plovdiv Alena’s birth town. Last year (actually Dec 1 2018)
coming through this town we were in a white out and very cold, so did
not stop.

We thought this an interesting sculpture to put onto a walkway.
A
much nicer day than last time. We found a car park and had a quick sandwich then
had a walk up to the monument on top of the hill in the middle of
town. the theatre was closed so could not go there.
We
realised we needed to buy a vignetti to pay for the roads. We stopped
at several gas stations but they did not sell, finally found one that
did, but could not pay with my Transferwise card. So did not buy. When
I came out I noticed a leak under the car. We parked in the corner
and lifted the cab. It looked like air conditioning hose was
leaking… the fluid was a little oily.
Tried
to buy vignetti online but said an error with vehicle….
We
are now on the trail that Elena suggested we follow but doing it the
other way around.
The
first place was a lake Batak Reservoir. We had not realise that it
would be in the snow line 1200m. When we realise that the next lake
was even higher we thought getting off the road to a camp site might
be difficult. So we camped here above the lake in the snow. A quiet
night.
