Went for a 3km walk out to the point. We followed animal tracks
through low very prickly bushes. Saw penguins but no seal colony. At
the Point we saw the penguins outside there burrows. We did not
scramble down to sea level for a closer look. A very sunny and hot
morning about 38 degrees.
Arrived in Rawson
and had lunch on a beach in town. A few other cars nearby but lots of
parking area so we parked across the area to view the ocean. A guy
came to visit and gave me two pins one with the emblem of Chabut, the
province we are in, and another with a mans profile. He tried to
explain to me who this important person was but I did not get the
message. He also said he himself was secretary of rugby club and had
had dealings with the all blacks the aussies the poms and South
Africa teams. Not really sure if him or the guy on the pin.
I then took him a
kangaroo to say thanks and he gave me his shirt which had the rugby
and 2016 on it. So I am the proud owner of a smelly orange rugby
shirt!!!
Drove into Trelew to
find a battery. Instead found a nice couple, the wife took me to her
home for a cool drink while Roberto went with John to find
batteries. Their daughter Sylvana joined us but had no English. We
all did communicate to some extent.
The men came back with
the news that two 6v deep-cycle batteries were available. We left to go back just
south of Rawson and the beach for the night. Found a camp in the
dark.
