Went to “Ezy”; a Bunnings type shop to buy some big coach bolts to hold the new batteries down as they are taller they our existing batteries. They didn’t have coach bolts so bought a length of threaded bar and some nuts and washers. Luckily john tried the nuts which didn’t fit - so we returned all.
Arrived at the
battery place and got the guy to take ours out and replace the new
ones.
One of the batteries
had worn its side through on the tie down bolt. As they wore the wood
they were sitting on they would become loose and move. We probably
could of just continued with the one 12v battery…..
Half way through we realized that the solar cells should not be in the sun when house batteries are disconnected so we hurriedly covered them with a quilt.
After a few issues they were installed. We had to go back to the “Ezy” store and buy some small straps, and some wood to go under and beside the batteries. We bought two burgers for lunch but only managed to eat one between us with a welcome cold beer. It is about 38۫C today. We tied the batteries down and left town about 14:30.
We arrived at Punta Tombo which supposedly is the largest colony of Magellanic penguins on mainland South America. We didn’t pay to go see them but wondered around the museum.
