Rather windy so drove up a river bed to find a bit of shelter
for our work on the batteries. Covered the solar panels with our
quilt and doona with rocks to hold them in place as still windy.
The batteries came out, the well worn wooden floor came out and them we made a new floor with wood spacers all around the battery so they cannot touch steel and wear.

When we went to
leave the pebbles were a bit loose so we had to drop tyre pressure
and take a few goes at getting out of the river bed. John just slowly
increased revs as she started to bog and she just kept moving.
Drove into Camarones
and got fuel. The station had WiFi so parked and used that for a
little while.
The scenery is pretty dull with short bushes and sand but the roads are great although we do have to slow often for cattle grids or dry fords.
Entered the gates at Bahia Bustamante which claims to be South America’s only seaweed town. A little small for a town now but it did have 400 workers and families at one stage. We camped the night near the ocean in too close a proximity to the generator…..
There are a few travelers working here. (an English and a French/English gals). They stopped by for a few months and do gardening or whatever for board and food. Chatted to some out in the garden.
We are interested in
doing the Bustamante boat tour out to some islands that are home to penguins
and seal lions as well as many different type of birds. We need to
wait till 20:00hrs when the morrows schedule is posted on the board.
