Got up in the night
and lowered the roof half way. We were being buffeted and were
rocking about. Glad we don’t get sea sick!!!
Drove out of this arm of the parque and similar to yesterday, 60km out to routa 40 - 20 km on ruta 30 - then another 60km into the park. Quiet different here; not so much thorn bush around. We had followed a river in.
At one stage perched above the river, saw two condors just gliding above us. They moved off and a young one arrives. Got some good photos. Could see 4 at the same time.
The parque guard could not speak much English but we found out about a 6km, 2 hour each way walk.
John was keen to do it so I made lunch while he packed a back pack with tent sleeping bag etc. He left just after 1500hrs.
I put on a loaf of bread, put some more tape around the rear quarter lockers and tried to fix the retaining straps on the roof walls. However even with the help of vice grips I could not get the strenghtening inside to move back into place. It has slipped down in its sheath and folded double so when the lid is closed the double section puts more pressure on the “canvas walls and has cut the canvas just above the electronics board.
The initial bridge for the walk was over a swing bridge made with fencing wire!
John did return within his 4 hours. We packed and headed to a camp with a view.
