Traveling further upstream we came to the dam, and found out why
the road was so unloved. The plant closed down in 2006 after only 20 yrs
of operation. We could have camped on the dam wall!!. A very steep
walled dam but only half full.
Another white road, this one had a sign up but we weren't sure if it was telling us open or closed times. We drove on. A very pretty, tight valley following the river with a brand new monastery being built at the top. No sign of road closure.
Were again looking for a camp late in the day. Could not cross the main bridge as it had a height limiter on it so drove up to another dam wall and found a camp. A lot of the rivers here have multiple dams on them, but with only a 10m drop. It did have turbines on it creating electricity.
