As forecast, it rained a couple of mils in the night. We
left by another way which could have been a big mistake. The farm
tracks which border the paddocks were VERY slippery, But of course
got slipperier the higher we went; which was all OK until we had to
turn across the hill, as John turned he lost his rear wheels which
ended in the ploughed paddock but did not sink in which was a bit of a relief. And yes after a few
hundred yards when the grass on the edge of the track had been
ploughed into the paddock he slipped in again so just kept driving
with one foot in the paddock. He did manage to extract himself twice
but inevitable ended back in it. After a very long, slow exit we
gained the road back to the fort.
The
sun came out so emptied both back lockers and dried them then had a
wonder around Romania’s oldest settlement. Had been rebuilt many
times since 300BC.
These horse and carts are still very common.
We
chased the coast south as more cold weather coming. The spit of land
north of Constanta had heaps of new development happening. all the
same 4 to 5 stories high, so camp here on the beach.
Driving
through Constanta was a bit nerve racking, some snow and after 15:40,
however john found a track just seaward of Tuzla. I left him to drive
up the muddy slippery track and once up there was nice gravel. Found
a camp in the rain and sleep just between the track and cliff
overlooking the black sea.
