Onto
the cave that Selman had told us about. Inalti Magarasi. We got there
but no one was about so we grabbed a torch each and headed up the
steps. On the way up we heard a vehicle, yes some guys came. Some stopped to
clear fallen rocks off the track and the other guy came up to sell us
tickets (AU$2.50 for both) and unlock the gate.
At the car park they had some old equipment. I thought these old sleds with stones in the bottom was quite interesting.
At
the town of Gokceagac Sakizi we saw water rushing down an open channel then through a
tunnel to the stream. Went closer for some photos and met up with a farmer
grazing his cows.
Perched above the small village of Salar in Boyabet district we saw this tomb
so turned off to explore. We turned off early and wound our way
through the small village but found the path up to it. Interesting
and the internet informs me that it is a 7th century BC tomb.
This sign at the turn off to the lake confused us. Was it informing us not to wear a motorbike helmet when chain sawing logs or ???
We
started gaining altitude , I found a nice little lake on the map
(Lake Yesilgol) for a camp. When we were getting close to the turn
off and at1700m, snow made it’s appearance. And yes the dirt road to
the lake was in part covered with snow. Our tires performed well
and
we found a lovely spot overlooking the lake with no one else in site.
And no Mosques to call us to prayer.
