2019-05-10 Day 225 Fri

I cooked some oatcakes for morning tea. We left around midday but this still gives us 8 hours of daylight.

They like their flags big here.

Filled with diesel and were going to fill with water but it seemed very murky in the bottles so put washing in the black tub to soak and took the 5x6 litre bottles filled to rinse it with.

A gas tanker filling cars just on the side of the road.

Deciding we wanted to visit the Mingecevir Reservoir we headed in that direction. The white road was very good, newly sealed. The first big irrigation arms we had seen for a while littered the paddocks. Most so newly installed that there was no marks on the earth of their passage.

At the last pump shed the road turned back to gravel and our speed decreased. About 2pm we stopped for lunch on the side of the road. I made roll-ups while John dropped the tire pressure to about 40psi. To give us a little softer ride.
A Ute came passed and stopped. We had a chat with the guy then one of his mates rolled up in a Lada. So we tried to chat for a little longer with the help of yet another English teacher on the phone.

They had trouble believing we were out there away from civilization
It is lovely country and the first bit of wide space we have seen for a while.

They told us in what direction the track is to the lake. Also that to go south the road would be rough.

No more road marked on our map and a few lines showed on the google satellite image. Making it to the lake we decided to try and drive the 60km’s down the side of the lake. The satellite showed a road most of the way and in from the other end.
A lot of herds of animals with their herder. Cattle or sheep and goat mixture.

A few humpies around, some lived in and some looked to be summer or weekend shacks.
About 7pm we got around the inlet and it’s steep little roads and camped overlooking it’s green waters. A very pretty spot.

It has been very warm today about 32℃ and I am in shorts for the first time since South America somewhere.

I started the washing while John cooked dinner. It will be great to pick up this fan in Baku and hopefully have our stove working again.

John hung the clothes outside on a line.
