Work
on the “hay” started early with the whipper snipper busy over the
ridge and our two guys up higher up the hill rolling grass down. I
assume it is too steep for a tractor or truck so they need to get the
grass where it can be picked up. Labor intensive hay, but that is
what they have. The hay is full of weeds, thistles and stalks but it
just all goes together.
John
texted Felix and he was already in Germany on his way to the hospital.
The
next few little villages did not have running water into their homes
but had to collect it from the street tp. So we saw many people out
collecting the mornings water. In buckets or “cream cans” in a
wheel barrow. Often it is the young boys who collect the water.
The
white road took us up above a village where we stopped for lunch.
Very hot again today.
We
are noticing more and more horses.
Back
onto orange and now for the Kaldamo pass at 3000m.
At
the bottom we noticed a camper so stopped to say hi. They had just come
over the pass and told us it was steep and no places to camp but we
continued on.
On
the river below the french camp were the German the canoeists, we beeped and
waved.
A
big blue truck was parked near a waterfall with a group of men and
boys. We stopped for a chat then they wanted photos. But what they
were doing was cooling their beer and vodka in the cold water.
We
noticed lots of neat camp sites…. Up onto the pass which was a bit
mundane but noticed a bulldozed track leading up another 120m to a
building.
Up we went quite rough with tight switch backs, but EC just crawled up and there was the camp site.. an area flattened and covered
with grass and wild flowers . A great spot….
