A rather slow start to the morning. I am not coping very
well with the late nights. We have good internet so that is a plus.
The
country bus stops are made from concrete and painted blue and white.
At intervals there are concrete toilets alongside them, sometimes one
sometimes two and at others none.
The
road was good and we made some miles. The barriers at a train crossing
stopped us and with the flap in the road up it would stop most
vehicles. We first saw this in Uzbekistan.
A
fire truck and a roadside fire. I don’t think it is part of the Siberian wildfires that we have heard about. We certainly have seen
smoky air but not yet as bad as some years in Wangaratta.
Krasnoyarsk
was supposed to be a badly effected town with smoke but it was quiet
clear when we were there.
Just
before Tayshet we drove out on tracks to the rivers edge. A nice spot
with other people just a bit further along. John got out for his
nightly photo and was soon hollering to be let back in. The mozzies
were worse than he’d ever seen.
Needless
to say we stayed inside for the night.
Although
late, I cooked the massive pork chops, cabbage and mashed spuds for
dinner. The chops were divine and a wonderful change from chicken.
